Kain Viccon
Kain Viccon (Vice'-Con) is the only son of 109th Grand General Richard Viccon and Carmen Viccon. Kain's natural mother died due to a complication during his birth leaving Richard alone to care for his son. Shortly after Kain's birth Richard was called to duty during the historic battle against the powerful Kitrad Doe clan of dragons. During this quest Richard followed the chief dragon of Kitrad Doe who had sought to bring the mystical Chinese council of Dragons under his yoke. It was at this time that Richard met and fell in love with a beautiful Chinese maiden named Hua Fang. They married the night before Richard left back for the Old World to finish his fight against Kitrad Doe, afterwhich he returned back to China for his bride. Kain was over two years old before he met his new mother, but he instantly took to Fang as if she were his blood mother and developed a strong relationship with her. Fang proved to be just the caring, tender, and devoted mother Richard had wished for his son. Fang taught Kain the Chinese language written and spoken, the culture, and the history. When Kain was seven years old his parent took him to China to visit Fang's family in Fuzhou. This was the first time Kain met his cousin Hua Li and even at such a young age their future bond was apparent as they became fast friends and acted like brother and sister rather than distant cousins.

Back home in Arcainia Kain had many friends, his best being the Raptor twins James & Mara since their fathers were themselves good friends. Kain did well in school, although he was never a top student as he tended to focus more with training for his future dreams of following his his father's footsteps. Kain was a tremendous balon player and lead his team to championship victories three years in a row. His father personally instructed him in the art of warfare, teaching him the various combat techniques of the Arcainian Knighthood. Even at a young age Kain proved to be a master archer and excelled in Arcainian martial arts.

Kain was 11 years old when the vile warlock Noknor assassinated his parents right before his eyes. Kain himself was almost killed, but Richard had seriously injured Noknor and so the warlock could not give chase when Kain ran away with his baby sister Nancy in his arms. The orphaned siblings had no relatives on their father's side and were thus put into the care of Arcainia Castle. However, upon hearing of his sister's death, Fang's brother insisted on taking the children in under his roof. While in China, Kain continued to train vigorously in Arcainian martial arts and warfare. He studied both Old World & Chinese military tactics constantly and always trained with his cousin Li. The cousins often fought side-by-side and it was not uncommon to see them standing up to bullies for children who couldn't stand up for themselves. Kain also had the lessons his father had taught him before his death and so that he would never forget Kain constantly wrote and rewrote his wise father's teachings, something he still continues to do in remembrance.

At the age of sixteen Kain decided it was time to join the Arcainian Army and start down the path of seeing his dreams come true. He returned home and enrolled in the army while Nancy remained in China with Li and her family. Kain served his eight weeks of basic training on Tlaloc Island and because of his skill and experience he was allowed to attend Knighthood training. It is customary for aspiring Arcainian Knights to serve two to three years in the army before going back to Tlaloc Island for Knighthood training, although it is not uncommon for this to be waved for outstanding and deserving soldiers. Right out of Knighthood training Kain was given the rank of Lt. Captain.

With his boot camp terms completed, Nancy also returned home and together they built a new house on the land that their childhood home had once occupied. In the army Kain continously impressed his superiors with his skill on and off the battlefield and quickly rose to the rank of Blue General One Star. He served briefly as Chief of Police in the City of Hurst after the sudden death of their chief.

When he was 23 years old the 112th Grand General of Arcainia announced his pending retirement, opening up a rigorous competition for the position of 113th Grand General. With a personal invitation from both the Grand General and from Queen Vanetta of Arcainia to joing the running, Kainw as sent on a mission to China to fight the potential rise of the terrible Gong Gong. Kain completed the mission well within the given timeframe and with a personal letter of recommendation from the emperor of China. Kain was not guaranteed the spot of Grand General, but with a lot of hard work and determination he made it into the top picks and was eventually awarded the title. In the two short years as Grand General Kain has proven to even his most harsh critics that even such a young man could prove to be a great general and leader of the Arcainian Army. Kain corrected many problems, motivated the soldiers to take more pride in themselves and their kingdom, and stregthened the army. He led many quests personally, heading out into the field to slay dragons and other monsters terrorizing the people of Arcainia. He fended off a small invasion of Kertiz warriors from the south, and helped Kuberica with an small expedition to the Shadowlands of the north. At the time of
Book I: The Roots of Evil this expedition was still ongoing, but due to Noknor's invasion it was abruptly cancelled and has yet to pick back up.
